Guides work, make decisions and have fun in close co-operation with other girls aged 10–14. Guides provides girls with a new social group, and a break from school friendships. They meet girls from all over the State and sometimes from other states and overseas.
By the time girls reach Guides, they’re becoming more independent and adventurous. This is reflected by the ownership they take over their own meetings, as well as the types of extra activities and events they can take part in.
Guides can just enjoy the weekly and holiday programs offered, or they can go step further and challenge themselves to learn more. By extending their understanding of Guides and of their own special interests they can gain recognition, earn badges and receive special Guiding awards.
Girls in Guide Units particularly enjoy:
· Abseiling down steep cliffs
· Singing around campfires
· Sleeping under the stars
· Staying at Girl Guides NSW & ACT’s ski lodge in the snow
· Taking toys to kids in hospital
