Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Who can do it?

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to 14-25 year olds.

What is the purpose of Duke of Ed?

To help young people make good use of their spare time in helping themselves, to develop their character and determination, and to the community in a service capacity.

How will it help me as a Guide?

Duke of Ed is a very prestigious award which can be cross credited with BP and Queen’s Guide Awards. Many of the requirements are similar to the Guiding challenges, the only difference being that the commitment required to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award sections is longer.

What does the Award involve?

There are 3 levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Each Award requires milestones to be met in four sections: Physical Recreation, Skill, Volunteering, and Adventurous Journey. For the Gold Award, a Residential Project must also be completed.

Check out http://www.dukeofed.com.au for details.

NB – you can start the Award at any level, but there are additional clauses to complete if you begin at Silver or Gold level.
