Friends of Tingira
Friends of Tingira is a group of current and former Guides and friends of Guiding of all ages who have fun supporting the Girl Guides NSW State Water Activities Centre RTS Tingira at Cabarita on the western shore of Hen and Chicken Bay. As with District Support Groups, Friends provide moral, practical and financial support to the Tingira Committee, although help with on water activities is definitely optional.
Some of our regular activities include
- * Catering for annual events at Tingira for both Youth and Adult members
- * Holding special fund raising events to support the purchase of equipment for Tingira
- * Giving service through helping with regular maintenance and Working Bees
Recent special events include Tingira’s 40th birthday party and supporting the fund raising efforts of fellow Guide and paralympian Jan Pike.
Special projects have included equipping the recently built general purpose building Woody’s and erecting a sun shade donated by Trefoil Guilds in NSW over part of the outdoor area.
Through Friends of Tingira, members keep in contact with Guiding friends and make new friends with similar interests while supporting the development of both youth and adult members of Girl Guides NSW & ACT.
We meet at Tingira four times a year, in February, May, August and November. The Annual General Meeting is held in February.
Membership is open to both men and women for a modest Annual Fee, currently $10.
