State Committees

Awards Committee

Ensures that Members’ service and bravery are suitably recognised as defined in Girl Guides Australia Guide Lines and recommends awards for approval by the Board.
 
They are also responsible for promoting opportunities for recognition of Members through the adult Guide Awards, Guide Bravery Awards, the Australian honours system and community awards.
 
 

Constitutions and Procedures Committee

Ensures that Girl Guides NSW & ACT has the appropriate documentation to satisfy all governance and management responsibilities and is responsible for managing the Constitution and the Administration Manual.
 
They also ensure that all policies and procedures can be implemented and are consistent with NSW Government Legislation, the Constitution of Girl Guides Association (New South Wales) and Girl Guides Australia Guide Lines.
 
They are also responsible for all committees and voluntary positions having appropriate terms of reference.
 
 

Cultural Diversity Committee

Develops strategies to market Guiding to culturally diverse communities in order to move towards a membership of Girl Guides NSW & ACT that reflects local demographics.
 
They also assist Members to develop a clearer understanding of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and actively support Leaders who are working with girls from diverse cultures.
 
 

Finance Management Committee

The committee advises the Board on financial matters, taking into account the needs of the Members of the Association.
 
They also review financial reports and investment decisions, monitor individual budgets and approve projects within the committee’s delegated authority.
 
They are responsible for reviewing the annual financial statements with management and external auditors prior to their recommendation to the Board for approval and ensuring that recommendations made by the auditor are fully investigated and implemented where appropriate.
 
 

Funding Committee

The Funding Committee reports to the Finance Management Committee and is responsible for seeking funds and gifts in kind which must be in accord with the policies of Girl Guides NSW & ACT.
 
These funds may be in the form of corporate sponsorship, government grants or specific fund-raising activities. They are also responsible for creating, promoting and maintaining a bequest program on behalf of Girl Guides NSW & ACT.
 
 

International Committee

The committee assists the International Consultant with the promotion of international Guiding within NSW.
 
They are responsible for selecting State nominees for international events, arranging hospitality for international visitors and assisting with the management of the Friends of the Four World Centres.
 
They also assist with activities associated with Thinking Day, the Irene Fairbairn Fund and the United Nations Liaison.
 
 

Member Management Committee

The committee coordinates the management of volunteers within Girl Guides NSW & ACT.
 
They are responsible for implementing the decisions of the Board and supporting the State Commissioner in the management of Girl Guides NSW & ACT. They also ensure that the management of the voluntary activities of Girl Guides NSW & ACT conforms with the policies of Girl Guides Australia and WAGGGS.
 
The committee also contributes to the development of the strategic and operational plans of Girl Guides NSW & ACT and prepares the Calendar of Events.
 

Olave Program Committee

The Committee is responsible for planning, executing and evaluating events for adult Members under the age of 30 years, which ensure the Olave Program is kept dynamic, relevant and complements the Australian Adult Leaders Program.
 
They oversee the administration of the Olave Baden-Powell Award in NSW and conduct an annual conference for adult Members under the age of 30 years
 
They are also responsible for encouraging adult Members under the age of 30 to be actively involved in state events and to assist whenever possible.
 
 

Outdoor Activities Committee

The Committee assists the Outdoor Activities Consultant in initiating, promoting and facilitating a wide range of outdoor activities in Girl Guides NSW & ACT to enhance the implementation of the Australian Guide Program.
 
They are responsible for promoting outdoor activities at State and Region levels, evaluating and monitoring the safety aspects of all outdoor activities, promoting awareness of environmental concerns and assisting in the conduct of State Events to encourage Leaders to gain qualifications in camping, boating and other outdoor activities.
 

Program Committee

The committee assists the Program Adviser to initiate the planning, promotion, implementation and evaluation of all aspects of the Australian Guide Program.
 
They are responsible for proposing a balanced program of events and activities to be included in the State calendar and ensuring that events and activities for Guides support the philosophy of the Australian Guide Program.
 
They are also responsible for organising appropriate presentations for Achievement Awards of the Australian Guide Program.
 

Program Age Group Committees – Pre Junior/Junior Guide, Guide & Senior Guide

The role of each committee is to co-ordinate the activities and specific needs of their age group. 
 
This includes recommending and organising appropriate State events, providing the content for the girls’ magazine, monitoring a range of resources to support the delivery of the Australian Guide Program and developing strategies to encourage progression between the age groups.
 

Public Relations Events Committee

The committee identifies and organises participation in community events compatible with the principles of Guiding to promote Girl Guides NSW & ACT.  This includes events such as Rejectamentia at the City to Surf, the Lord Mayors New Years Eve picnic, the Sydney Christmas Parade and Clean Up Australia Day.
 

Property Committees – Glengarry and Tingira

The committees support the operation of each property by assisting in the promotion of the property and organising activities which promote the property and its use to Members and external groups.
 
The committee is also responsible for checking the property in relation to risk and identify areas or improvements which need to be addressed by the State Property Administrator or the caretaker. 
 
The Tingira Committee also ensures that the water craft and equipment are compliant with safety standards and plans and arranges the implementation of a program of supervised water activities and provides instruction and assessment for qualifications in water related pursuits.
 

Training Committee

The committee implements, supports and evaluates the Australian Adult Leadership Program and the Australian Trainers Training Program in NSW & ACT.
 
They are responsible for assisting the Training Adviser to develop Trainers' skills, organise the annual State Trainers' Conference, evaluate suggested initiatives that impact on Training and contribute to the development of Girl Guides NSW & ACT Training policy.
