How can Parents help?

Parents and Leaders work together to build the Guide District.

In your Guide District there will be either a District Management Team or a Support Group. Within these groups there are different roles to suit a variety of talents and the time you have available to volunteer to help the local Guide community. The District needs enthusiastic, friendly people.

What do District Support Teams and Support Groups do?

They support the leaders, participate in District decision making, assist with maintaining the hall or meeting place, and promote Guides in the community.

District Support Teams also raise funds to assist with hall insurance, Leader training and uniforms, resources and equipment used by the District.

How much time will be involved?

Most groups meet on a monthly basis during the term for a couple of hours. However, this does vary across the State. Each group will plan their own activities to support the District. The time involved will depend upon your District and the volunteer role you undertake.

Other ways parents are able to help in the District?

Yes, there are many opportunities for parents to help in different ways.

It may be:

driving Guides to a Unit activity or to camp

assisting Leaders during meeting time or for a special event

sharing your talents and skills with the Unit

Speak to your Unit Leader or District Leader to find out more about ways you can help out.
