inspire & empower, guiding for adults

All women over 18 can play an important volunteer role in Guiding. Our volunteers are attracted to Guiding for many reasons—they may have been Guides themselves; they want to enhance their skills; they feel strongly about supporting girls and women; or they simply love kids.

What they all have in common is that they find far more than what they were originally looking for. We receive great feedback from our Leaders and other volunteers on the quality of the training they receive, the level of support offered, how much they learn through their experiences, and how much fun they have.

As a Member with a leadership role, you can lead Youth or Adults. If a Leadership role with a regular weekly commitment is not for you, there are many other ways you can get involved. If you’re aged 18–30, check out the Olave Program. Trefoil Guild membership is another option for the 18+, but more commonly joined by the 30+.

There are also many ways to be involved as a volunteer in Guiding. Parents and carers, both male and female, can get involved with their local District, or you may simply have an interest in giving some time to a non-member volunteer role. A helpful information package is available for all volunteers—why not follow the Seven Steps to Volunteering with Girl Guides?

Guides is a child safe and child friendly organisation. A Working With Children check is essential. All Adult members are bound to a Code of Conduct.
