What to do in the event of an accident that causes injury to a person at, or an incident that causes damage to property of, Girl Guides NSW & ACT

Sometimes accidents happen. What to do is well documented in Guide Lines, the website that contains the policies and procedures relating to Girl Guides in Australia. The information below summarises what to do and the examples listed expalin who to contact.

What to do when there is injury to any Guiding Member, family member, contractor or visitor.
  • As soon as possible after the accident, please complete the ADM.24A form. It is a requirement of our insurance that all incidents are reported to our insurers as soon as possible.
  • Send the completed ADM.24A to the CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT
  • A copy of the ADM.24A should be retained by the District Manager
  • CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT will forward ADM.24A to Girl Guides Australia who will notify insurers

What to do when there is an incident that does not involve an injury:
  • As soon as possible after the accident, please complete the ADM.24B  form. It is a requirement of our insurance that all incidents are reported to our insurers as soon as possible.
  • Send the completed ADM.24B to the CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT
  • A copy of the ADM.24B should be retained by the District Manager
  • CEO of Girl Guides NSW & ACT will forward ADM.24B to Girl Guides Australia who will notify insurers

What should happen whenever there is injury or damage
  • Provide first aid to injured people
  • Contact emergency services as applicable
  • Secure the property to mitigate the risk
 

What to do if there is:
 
Injury to member, volunteer or (non-staff) person carrying on activities of Girl Guides NSW & ACT

Examples:
  • Girl injured on camp
  • Member trips and falls at Guide hall
  • Guide parent is shopping for Guide activity and hurts back at supermarket

  • Inform broker/insurers
  • Forward claim form 
  • Liaise with broker/insurers
Damage to property that belongs to Girl Guides NSW & ACT

Examples:
  • Vandalism or other damage to hall
  • Motor Vehicle accident involving a vehicle owned by GG NSW & ACT
  • Theft of a water vessel owned by GG NSW & ACT
  • Fire at leaders’ home – Girl Guide property destroyed
  • Wild storm at camp – tents damaged
  • Cash proceeds of Bunnings Sausage Sizzle stolen

Examples:
  • Guides playing wild ball game damage a parked motor vehicle 
  • Motor Vehicle owned by Girl Guides crashes into a third party’s fence
  • Awning falls off Guide hall and hits a jogger on the head
  • Trefoil Guild group staying at a Scout property vandalises the furniture
  • Parent collecting a child attending a drama class held in a Guide hall trips and falls
  • Six Girl Guide canoes being towed on a Girl Guide trailer fall off and squash a car and its occupants
  • A batch of Girl Guide biscuits makes a group of children sick
  • Three people die and ten are hospitalised due to bad sausages served at sausage sizzle
