Director Election and AGM News

22 MAY 2019

On Saturday 18 May, Girl Guides NSW & ACT held their Annual General Meeting at Glengarry, the Girl Guides NSW & ACT State Training and Outdoor Centre in North Turramurra.

The Annual General Meeting was a real insight into the operational side of Girl Guides and what happens ‘behind the scenes’ to enable the empowerment of girls and young women everywhere. It is also a forum where serious matters are put to vote and results of Board Director elections are announced.

State Commissioner Sarah Neill announced two new Board Directors and three returning Board Directors on Saturday, elected by Member vote. Newly elected Directors Sonja Freeman from Sydney and Michelle Kothe from Canberra bring valuable skills and insight to the Board of Directors and returning Directors Kath Follers, Joanne Muller and Lisa Walters will continue to work towards the mission and vision of the Association and ensure that Girl Guiding in NSW, the ACT and soon NT will be sustainable into the future.

Two motions that proposed amendments to the Constitution of Girl Guides were put forward for deliberation and carried. These changes will give the Association a contemporary framework of best practice governance to enable the Association to continue to grow and engage with all of its Members.
