Girl Guides in NSW can save $100 in membership fees through the NSW Government's Active Kids program. In 2018, 57% of our eligible members redeemed an Active Kids Voucher—that's 2890 claims saving those members a whopping $289,000 collectively.
What is an Active Kids Voucher?
An Active Kids Voucher is an initiative of the NSW State Government to help families meet the cost of children participating in active fitness and recreation activities, like Girl Guides. Established in 2018, the program is initially set to run for four years.
Every child (between 4.5 and 18, and enrolled in a school in Australia or on a Medicare card) is entitled to one Active Kids Voucher per calendar year. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.
The voucher is a fantastic way to reduce the out of pocket costs of an annual youth membership with Girl Guides from $150 to $50 for 2019.
One voucher is available for every child in the family annually over the next four years. Once claimed the voucher cannot be refunded or exchanged and is not a rebate so cannot be claimed against fees already paid. Active Kids Voucher can only be used for Girl Guides Annual Membership fees in NSW. Members who live in the ACT or who undertake Guiding in the ACT but live in NSW are not able to use the voucher for Girl Guides.
How do I redeem my Active Kids Voucher?
Once you've recieved your voucher for 2019 from Service NSW you can redeem it online when renewing your membership. Simply login to My GuideBook and click the renew now button. If you're a NSW youth member you'll be prompted to enter your Active Kids Voucher details.
If you're a new member, the process will very soon be online and automated. In the meantime, vouchers may be redeemed by sending them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
