Youth at the Zoo and Keeper for a Day are back!

20 SEPTEMBER 2018

Thanks to Taronga, Girl Guides NSW & ACT are once again offering our Guides some very extraordinary opportunities. For the 13 to 19 age bracket, we will have the opportunity to send four intrepid Guides to Taronga's Boral Youth at the Zoo (YATZ) program. Normally $350, Taronga has generously supported Girl Guides with some scholarships! For the first time Taronga have also offered us a position on the YATZ program at Taronga's Western Plains Zoo. For the 8 to 11 age bracket, there will again be places up for grabs in a special Girl Guides takeover of the Keeper for a Day program in January.

Youth at the Zoo (YATZ)

YATZ  is for young people aged 13 to 19 years old who love animals. YATZ is designed to give young people the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of how a zoo works, with a focus on the importance of animal conservation.

Please note that there is very limited interaction with, and no handling of, Taronga Zoo's animals.

Each YATZ member can expect to be rostered on 2–3 days each school holiday period.

As a new member, all YATZ are required to attend Induction before volunteering. If successful, you will be invited to attend an Induction. For the November 2018 Intake you will be invited to choose one of the dates below with a parent or adult to attend with you:
Saturday 8th December, 10am—2pm
Wednesday 2nd January, 10am—2pm

To apply, you are required to create and upload a video application.
